I hope everyone is having a good summer so far. Here’s a list of things I’ve been working on since school let out.
First of all, I’ve been kicking plans for Digital Hope and the fall LAN for Life event into high gear. I’m very excited about what’s being planned for the fall event. To begin, we are looking at moving the event to Charleston this fall. This move is due the ballroom being unavailable for the LAN this fall. Prospective places include the University of Charleston, the Dow Center, and (although I don’t see this happening) the Civic Center. We also are planning on having int eighty of Dual Core in attendance to do a set for us. Ryan and I saw him do a set at Notacon. While neither of us are into rap music, we really enjoyed his music. Be sure to check out his website!
There’s been a lot of action over at the Digital Hope forums. We’re still discussing the basics of establishing the foundation, and we’ve come up with quite a few good ideas. Be sure to check it out and post your ideas.
Finally, I’m looking to start up a project which I’m calling Project Little Coders. The idea comes from my experiences learning to program when I was younger. It was very difficult for me to learn how to program when I was younger since I didn’t have anyone to show me. My parents tried to help by buying me books to learn, but programming books are normally geared to adults. Kids are pretty much left out in the dark when trying to teach themselves to write programs. So, the basic idea is that we’re coming up with a website that teaches kids how to program using easy to use languages such as Python, KPL, etc. I’ll post more on this later.
As I’ve said before, I hope everyone is having a good summer. Take care and be safe!
